Don is a very talented musician. I have jammed with him many times over the years... he even played at our wedding (thanks again, bro'!) I'm just an amateur, but Don's the real thing and he needed a new headshot/musician portrait. We had our session in White Rock. With a lovely break in the weather, we ended up at the beach at sunset. Don, it was great to see you. Love that new travellin' man guitar, too. Have fun while you're in Costa Rica... Hasta la Vista!

My first camera was an old Minolta I bought at pawn shop on Vancouver's Hastings Street in 1988. It was love at first shutter! Canada's west coast is such an inspiring place for photography. As an avid outdoorsman, I would always bring my camera with me to take pictures in the mountains and forests.
One evening after skiing I was watching a performance at Arts club Theatre and took some pictures of the actors onstage. After giving copies of the photos to them the following week they asked me to come back and take pictures at the next performance. Little did I know that that day would lead to a long and rewarding career! I took a couple of photography courses at the Emily Carr Institute of Art and Design and the feedback I got from the students and and teachers made me decide to quit my job and become a full time photographer. That was in 1992.
My friends had also started asking me to take the pictures at their weddings. I realized that it was a perfect match because I love photographing people in natural and in urban settings. I still love it and carry my camera everywhere!
